I first heard Carolyn sing through headphones. I was recording with Daniel Rodriguez. I was wanting to know who was singing these beautiful harmonies on the track ."Dying To Live" Later that year, we met at Northwest String Summit near Portland OR. Night one we were both jamming bluegrass, tom waits covers, and hot swing into the night. After one of the most outrageous weekends camping out and playing music, I knew we had much more music making to come.

She asked me on Tuesday night if i'd want record this cover song " Part of Me" by Gold Brother. I said "what about tomorrow at sunset?".. When she showed up to film I was still in jammers, hair in knots, and kinda confused. We quickly learned the tune together and rehearsed until the sunset began. I put on a collared shirt, dropped my soft pallet, and shlepped the camera over to this view.

You can see the smoke of the Lefthand Fire mixed with the Cameron Peak Fire...Thoughts and prayers transmission to all the folks out there. Some have lost their homes and others waiting in evacuation. I'm so thankful for the firefighters that kept us safely singing up here.
