We will learn more about the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians for today's program for Michael Rondeau and Carma Mornarich.

We will also have our monthly Service Above Self award. More information on our meeting is below.

MICHAEL RONDEAU
Michael is a Cow Creek tribal member and has worked for the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians for over 37 years.
Experience
Positions held with the Tribe are Education Director, Housing Director, Tribal Planner of Economic Development, Contract Specialist, Government Operations Officer and is currently the CEO/Tribal Administrator. Michael has been Chairman of the Tribal Gaming Commission, past Vice-Chairman of the UIDC Board and is a current member of the Tribal Election Committee.
Community Involvement
Former Roseburg Chamber Board, Mercy Foundation Board and past President of the March of Dimes. Michael is currently on the Umpqua Economic Development Partnership and Phoenix School Boards. He is also a member of the tribal/state Compact Negotiating Team. He has been a guest speaker at local schools, Community Colleges and conferences on Tribal affairs and has been dedicated throughout the years to preserving Tribal sovereignty, history and culture of the Tribe.

Carma Mornarich
Carma Mornarich, born and raised on a ranch in Days Creek, is a native Oregonian. She received a B.S. in agricultural communications from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Arts in teaching professional technical education from Oregon State University. After completing her formal education, Carma worked in the advertising industry in Montana and as a teacher in Douglas County, Oregon.
In 2001, Carma joined the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation Board and became its director in 2007. She is also a board member of the Lilja Family Fund through the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF), a scholarship committee member for the Olsrud 4-H &FFA Scholarship, and a member of the Southern Willamette Valley Leadership Council for OCF.
Carma and her husband, Jeff, own a small cattle herd on their Glide ranch. Their twin sons and daughter are all attending college.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF
Freyia Moeves is our first Service Above Self recipient this year. Freyia is a senior at Hidden Valley High School with a 4.103 GPA. She enjoys volleyball, tennis, leadership, mock trial, Sparrow Club and more. She volunteered with Pacifica Outdoor School as a student leader and participated in other school activities. She is interested in OIT, OSU, or UO.
