Global Synergy Group (GSG) is a 501 (c)(3) that en-gages local government officials, business leaders and civic and youth organizations in the exchange of ideas, information, and expertise with the goal of sharing knowledge and ideas and explore innovative solutions to community issues. Karla Hill Donisch joined Brimeyer in their presentation.
It all started in the fall of 2010, when a group of business and community leaders from Minnesota, met with their counterparts in Boryspil, Ukraine. When the Minnesotans described government and business interactions and the process of working together, they were speaking more than just a different language. The concept of cooperation between the two groups was something the Ukrainians were completely unfamiliar with as the Ukraine system of interaction was built on bribery and corruption.
As time went on, the group from the Ukraine visited Minneso-ta to experience the process first hand and enjoy some of Minnesota’s treasures. Then a group of Ukrainian youth trav-eled to Minnesota (pictured left) and attended Hopkins High School part-time and filled the rest of their time enjoying the cultural exchange by visiting the University of Minnesota, Peace Jam in Minneapolis as well as visiting local business-es. In 2015, a group of Minnesota high school students made the trip to the Ukraine with the objective to learn from one another. The Minnesotans visited state run orphanages, participated in service projects (a mostly unfamiliar concept in the Ukraine) and other activities.
GSG is looking to expand this program and make it possible for more business leaders as well as youth to participate in this cultural exchange program. Jim, a business and civic lead-er and long-time Rotarian is looking to expand GSG’s network of partners to promote more engagement and financial support.
