Event: GPD Finland 2019
The past, present, and future of the Vacuum Insulated Glazing technology

The Vacuum Insulating Glazing (VIG) is a highly thermally insulating window that is thin in profile, light weight, and has a potential lower limit in thermal conductance outperforms existing insulating glass window technologies. Since the University of Sydney VIG invention reported in the early 1990’s, numerous research efforts around the world have led to a fundamental understanding of the critical design and production issues, resulted in innovative VIG designs and resulted in a range of innovations in components for production. The purpose of this talk is to review the VIG technology background, and then provide an overview of the current status of the technology. The current road map of advances in unit design, manufacturing, and the ultimate market penetration of the technology, will be discussed in detail.
