Kevin Gover, in his keynote address at the 2015 Assocaition of Tribal Archives, Libraries, and Museums conference, discusses origin myths and how American origin myths misrepresent the history and experience of American Indians. He argues that while these myths are popular and persistent, they can be changed through advocacy and strong scholarshp. He then discusses some efforts by the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian's efforts to counter popular misrepresentations of American Indians. This speech was given at the ATALM annual conference in Washington DC, on September 11, 2015.
