1987 HORR Full (48mins) BBC coverage

Описание к видео 1987 HORR Full (48mins) BBC coverage

The 1987 Head of the River Race covered by the BBC, as it was on the same day as the Oxford Cambridge Boat Race. Full unedited coverage, in which they chose to concentrate on the first 3 crews and some human interest stories. Commentators were Harry Carpenter (who's main interest was boxing) and Chris Baillieu, with Gerald Sinstadt (normally football) doing the human interest interviews.
At the end of the broadcast the provisional results still had UL Tyrian winning, which was fine by me (I was congratulated by the bank clerk when I paid a cheque into the club account two days later on Monday :-) ). At the time this left the BBC a bit confused as they hadn't any coverage of several top ten crews (TSS, UL Tyrian, ICBC)

To set the record straight the Final results were:
1 ARA Squad 1 16:37.0
2 ARA Squad 2 (Notts mainly lwts) 16:42.7
3 Campania Italy 17:00.7
4 Fiat Italy 17:02.1
5 Tideway Scullers 1 17:02.9
6 University of London 1 17:09.0
7 ARA Squad 3 (London based lwts) 17:11.0
8 UL Tyrian 17:11.6
9 Imperial College 17:15.4
10 Bedford RC 17:17.3
