Have you been told to use good mornings to fix your back strength and get stronger in the squat and deadlift? We understand that it is a staple in most strength athletes programming whether it be for hypertrophy or posterior chain strength gains. We can't load a 600+ pound squatter with 135-185 pounds and accomplish that goal though. Here are 2 key points to have a better chance at a technical carryover to squats-deadlifts and for safety. Hinge correctly, please hinge correctly with a good brace set and good rooting of the foot. Remember to not squat the weight up it is simply a hinge movement with weight on your shoulders. Good mornings are a staple exercise for strength athletes, often used to build back strength and improve performance in squats and deadlifts. However, simply loading the bar with a light weight won’t yield optimal carryover to these lifts. To make your good mornings more effective, it's essential to follow two key principles:

These and the other key points from the video are the same for all of our variations: Chain/strap/pin suspended, partial ROM, and dead-stop.
