Modern Korean Wedding
1. Korean custom is to donate money to the married couple to help with the financial burden that a wedding places on the newlyweds. The closer you are to the couples the more you would pay. The standard amount to be donated ranges from 30,000-100,000₩, which is about 25-95$. New crisp bills are typically used to pay and placed in a white envelope, where you would then drop the money off into a basket. Some guests may even sneak money to the bride or groom so they can use it for their personal use. After donating money you will receive a meal voucher in exchange to attend the wedding reception.

2. The parents play a huge role in the weddings. Korean weddings are 60% congratulating the parents and 40% celebration of the union.

3.. Unlike American weddings where it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride and only a select few are allowed to see her, at most Korean weddings the bride is on display for all to see. During this time you are able to take pictures, congratulate her and sneak her some extra money.

4. There are no bridesmaids or groomsmen in a Korean wedding ceremony.

5. Weddings are a lot shorter than your typical Western weddings. This wedding lasted about 30 minutes.

One cool thing that this wedding did was a raffle for those who donated money. They raffled off 6 small gifts that ranged from small gift cards to AirPods.
