We were right in the heart of the 73rd Annual Meguiar’s Detroit Autorama — February 27–March 1 — and it was pure automotive heaven. Nearly 700 mind-blowing builds with the most prestigious award in hot rodding, the Ridler Award, on the line. Buckle up, because we’re taking you on a tour of the whole show.
We'll see the Great 8 Ridler Award Finalists — these eight hand-picked masterpieces represented the absolute pinnacle of custom car building. Here’s the elite lineup that had the entire show buzzing:

1962 Corvette “Cool Whip” — Wimbledon White with flawless execution and subtle mods
1968 Chevy C10 “Z/10” — blending Camaro muscle with pickup attitude and supercharged LS power
1953 Studebaker Champion rocking twin-turbo LS.
1956 Chevy 210 Handyman Wagon “Burnsy’s 56” — looking like a giant Hot Wheels with a blower sticking through the hood
1960 Ford Sunliner “Cruzliner” packing 1,000-hp
1959 Cadillac “Widowmaker” with its preserved tailfins but completely reworked body and supercharged LT4

The 2026 Ridler Award winner… 🏆
Rex & Rhonda Satterfield’s breathtaking “Elegant Lady” — a fully custom 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible!
This stunner sits on an Art Morrison chassis with a 3-inch body drop, Kugel independent rear suspension, and EVOD custom wheels. Under the hood? A Don Hardy-built supercharged LS7 cranking a claimed 1,000 horsepower through a polished 4L80E. The body is completely reimagined with a one-piece floorpan, flip-up taillights, a custom 1956 Pontiac dash, and that gorgeous “Light Coffee” paint that looks like melted caramel under the lights. Every detail — from the chromed convertible top frame to the hidden wiring and brake lines — is flawless.
What makes her story even more legendary? The build was started by the late Jeff Wolfenbarger of Kool Kolors, who tragically passed during the project. Kevin Riffey and the crew at Riffey’s Hot Rods stepped in to finish her with absolute respect and perfection. The emotion, the craftsmanship, the power, the elegance — Elegant Lady didn’t just win… she EARNED it. This is why the Ridler Award is the Nobel Prize of hot rodding.

Beyond the Great 8, the entire show radiated incredible variety and mind-blowing levels of craftsmanship. Builders from across the country (and Canada!) poured years of blood, sweat, and passion into these rolling works of art — from wild pro-street monsters to subtle, tasteful customs that look almost factory… until you get up close and personal with all of the cars.

And don’t sleep on the LOWER LEVEL — home to the raw, soul-stirring Ratrods! Hundreds of traditional hot rods, chopped street rods, patina’d beauties, bobbers, and classic Detroit steel filled the massive lower hall.
