Summertime in Michigan means more people are out enjoying nature, but so are the ticks.

The trend across the nation this year has not been great, as emergency room visits from tick bites are at their highest levels since 2019.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has kept records on emergency room visits from tick bites since 2017.

Data from the CDC shows 2025 has been the busiest year for tick related emergency room visits in the Midwest.

There have been 84 tick bites out of every 100,000 emergency room visits in the Midwest.

That is up from 2024, when there were only 56 tick bites out of every 100,000 emergency room visits.

Bronson Healthcare Group told News Channel 3 they have not seen an uptick in tick bite emergency room visits in Southwest Michigan this year.
