Mitre Measuring Scale

Over the years I've made thousands of picture frames, most of them being my photos. This Mitre Measuring Scale makes the task of measuring and cutting the picture frame mouldings to length very quick and easy. The scale I've been using for the last few years has gotten a little beaten up so I decided to make a new one.

I've been battling a cold this week and I probably sound a little funny and my mind wasn't quite on it, so I hope I explained things properly.
I said a couple of times that measuring a picture frame can be tricky, it isn't actually that tricky but it is still a much much easier task with this measuring scale.

I don't show how to make the fence as I already have one in place, so hopefully that shouldn't stop you making one as you don't need anything fancy just a flat level bed with a fence at the back. It could be made from whatever you have to hand, plywood, mdf, melamine etc. You could make it a little shorter in height than what you need then use shims to adjust the levels up and then screw it down to your bench top.

I used laminate to give the print some protection, I think this should hold up pretty well but another option would be to screw a piece of thin plexiglass on top.

When you print them, make sure to set your printer to 100% scale and check the measurements of the scale before using.
I haven't printed the imperial version out or tested it so while I'm fairly confident it will be correct, please let me know if it isn't.
