Much of the media portrayed this as an unprovoked assault by the officer, but newly surfaced video footage and credible eyewitness accounts reveal a very different reality—one that deserves to be heard.

1. The Incident: Confrontation in Front of Family
Lt. Col. Singh, a highly respected Army officer, was traveling with his family when SpiceJet staff abruptly challenged him over baggage weight. Instead of handling the matter calmly or respectfully—especially given the presence of the officer’s wife and children—the staff immediately adopted a hostile and aggressive tone. Public humiliation and disrespect were directed at Lt. Col. Singh and his family, creating a highly charged emotional environment.

2. Initial Physical Aggression by SpiceJet Staff
Eyewitnesses and video evidence confirm that the first act of physical aggression came not from the Army officer, but from the airline staff. In a shocking breach of protocol and basic decency, staff members pushed, shoved, and even struck Lt. Col. Singh—in full view of his family. No officer, particularly one who has served the nation in high-risk zones, should ever be subjected to such treatment.

Unfortunately, most mainstream media only reported the injuries to the SpiceJet staff and overlooked the fact that the officer was provoked and assaulted first. The actual context—of a decorated Army officer being attacked without cause—was conveniently ignored, leading to an unfair public perception.

5. Disrespect Towards Service and Sacrifice
This incident raises a deeper question: should the nation’s protectors, who risk their lives for our security, be subjected to public humiliation and violence by commercial airline staff? There should be greater sensitivity and respect towards men and women in uniform, especially when they are with their families.

Security and airline rules are important, but they must be enforced with dignity and understanding, especially in interaction with national heroes. SpiceJet’s staff chose an inhumane and confrontational approach, ignoring both the officer’s service and his family’s presence.
