Our guide Renier Pretorius was out on his final tour of the day last Friday when he and his guests were driving past the lions’, Caesar and Sarah’s, enclosure. Renier noticed an African Rock Python slither across the road. The snake went into Burger’s enclosure, one of the male cheetahs. Renier quickly informed the other guides and curators via radio about the imposter.Two of the guides, Franco and Sydney heard the radio call and responded immediately. They quickly rushed to Burger’s enclosure to remove the python.
The snake had gone into the hole of a tree trunk, which made the struggle to get it out much more challenging. It took about 20 minutes to safely remove the 1.9 metre snake.
