Epigastric pain is the most common symptom of peptic ulcers, which can occur in the stomach or duodenum. The pain can feel like gnawing or burning, and usually occurs after eating. For gastric ulcers, the pain typically occurs shortly after eating, while for duodenal ulcers it usually occurs 2–3 hours after eating. Other symptoms of peptic ulcers include bloating, nausea, and feeling full after eating a small amount of food.
