Gigabyte B760M Gaming Plus Wifi DDR4 QFlash - Update problem (computer powers up then cycles on/off)

Описание к видео Gigabyte B760M Gaming Plus Wifi DDR4 QFlash - Update problem (computer powers up then cycles on/off)

EDIT Jan 9, 2025: Motherboard is still within the return period so per Gigabyte's tech support I am going to exchange it for a new one. For clarification the problem about the computer powering up then cycling on/off was a problem because it's not supposed to do that during the QFlash update. I was never able to update the BIOS using QFlash, therefore all the comments about needing a RAM stick installed is a moot point because if I couldn't update the BIOS (no onboard graphics, video is provided by dedicated GPU that needs the BIOS update to work) then I wouldn't be able to see the BIOS screen on startup. That said, I appreciate all the help you guys offered in the comments. It was my fault for not being clear about why cycling on/off during the QFlash update and preventing the update from completing was the problem.

OP: Gigabyte's website doesn't provide clear instructions on how to update their motherboards using the QFlash function and other videos/writeups I've seen/read online are somewhat accurate but not a single one has provided clear, step by step instructions that is specific and includes the smallest of details.

The CORRECT procedure to update the motherboard's BIOS using the QFlash function (as instructed by Gigabyte's tech support):

1. Do not install any components (CPU, RAM, HDs, GPUs) on the motherboard. (I really wish Gigabyte had a disclaimer notice to let buyers know that some dedicated GPUs may not be supported by the factory BIOS and unless it's updated to the latest BIOS, the GPU won't show a display). Of course, I didn't know about this until after I put everything together and wasn't getting a video signal to my monitor.

2. Only attach the 24pin motherboard connector and the motherboard power supply (2x 4 pin connectors for this model). Do not hook up any other cables or connections (F-panel, USB, fans, etc)

3. Find the *correct* BIOS .zip file on Gigabyte's website for the EXACT motherboard model. I highly recommend calling tech support if for nothing else but to confirm the correct .zip file based on the motherboard's serial number. Download the latest version.

4. Format a thumb drive (no larger than 32GB) using FAT32 and 4096 or default allocation. I prefer a thumb drive with a read/write LED indicator.

5. For Qflash updates open the .zip file and ONLY extract the ".F#" file to the newly formatted thumb drive. DO NOT EXTRACT THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE ZIP FILE FOR A QFLASH UPDATE. The "#" after ".F" represents the update/version of the BIOS. The higher the number, the more up to date it is with the highest number being the latest update.

6. Rename the ".F#" to "GIGABYTE.bin" exactly as written in quotations.

7. Turn on the power supply to the motherboard.

8. Insert the thumb drive into the "BIOS" USB slot on the motherboard.

9. Press the QFlash button on the motherboard. The LED next to the button should start to flash indicating that the update has begun and will continue to flash for 5 to 6 minutes until the update is complete.

That's the instructions that were given to me by several members and manager of the Gigabyte tech support team. Obviously I'm still having issues which is why I uploaded this video so tech support can review and advise me on what to do next. The first troubleshooting recommendation they gave me was to try a different thumb drive which I did and got the same results. I am still waiting to hear back from them on what to do next and perhaps a reason why the computer/LED panel and fans are running in the middle of the update then powering on/off in an endless cycle. I'll update this description as more information becomes available.
