The name "old pond syndrome" is not well-known, but the problem is. This can happen if koi are maintained alone in a pond for more than 8 to 10 years. There are no new fish introduced to the pond. What appears to happen is that the koi's immune system weakens.

There are several approaches you can take: Renovate your pond so that it looks the same but runs efficiently and requires little upkeep, allowing you to work less and enjoy more. Make your pond into a pondless water feature to make it even easier to maintain. Convert an undesirable pond into a Fountainscape for a completely different aesthetic.

Converting two old koi ponds into new fountains at a customer's home in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It's a great example of how everything, including water features, needs to update. We are taking two stacked stone koi ponds, adding aqua blocks to make a basin, and combining the stacked slate fountains from @aquascape to create a custom, one-of-a-kind water feature. The setting is impressive at this property, and these fountains only make it better!
