When learning to drive horn honkers are inevitable. It is not a matter of if other drivers are going to honk, but when other drivers are going to honk at you. So know that it is going to happen. If you are prepared mentally, then when it happens, the event is going to have less of an impact.

So when it does happen, take a breath and put your full attention on what you're doing. Do not succumb to the pressure of social driving and put yourself in a position that could result in a crash.

If you are executing a left-hand turn at a complex intersection you might consider aborting the turn. Some times it is safer and simpler to abort the turn and make three right hand turns rather than a high risk left-hand turn.

When learning how to driver, start off in a parking lot or other low-traffic areas. Here you want to practice slow-speed manoeuvres. As your skills increase move to learning how to drive in residential and low traffic areas. Only after you are comfortable with the vehicle and your skill level should you move to high density traffic and complex intersections.

And most important focus on what you're doing. Do not succumb to the pressures of social driving because you could potentially be involved in a dangerous collision.
