A sustainable model to restore the land, uplift communities, and transform how we travel.
In the heart of the Peruvian Andes, a new vision of tourism is emerging — one that respects life, roots, and the territory.
At Explorandino, in collaboration with the communities of Cuncani, Huacawasi, Mantanay, and Pucará, we’ve co-created the Lares Valley Nuna Andino Project, a regenerative experience that weaves together ancestral knowledge, cultural identity, biodiversity, and community well-being.
Thanks to the support of @ProInnovate @PRODUCEGOB and the technical guidance of @TourCert @gstc we’ve designed a territory-based tourism model grounded in respect, equity, and co-creation — a replicable approach for rural destinations in Peru and beyond.
🧭 What makes it innovative?
Because this is not just about reducing impact.
It’s about regenerating ecosystems, reviving cultural pride, and building fair economic alternatives for Andean families.
Our 3–4 day trekking route integrates:
✔️ Community-run eco-lodging
✔️ Andean cuisine based on native crops and ancestral wisdom
✔️ Nature encounters with endemic flora and fauna (Mantanay Forest, hummingbirds, butterflies)
✔️ Cultural immersion through weaving, medicinal plants, and sacred rituals
✔️ A new narrative of Peru — far from crowds, close to the soul
🤝 This model proves that public-private collaboration is essential.
We need local governments that listen, travel agencies that care, and policy frameworks that support communities as key actors in tourism development.
🎯 Lares Valley Nuna Andino is more than a product —
It’s an opportunity to rethink tourism as a tool for healing, learning, and building futures together.
🔎 But there are still gaps to address:
Infrastructure and digital connectivity
Long-term training and capacity building
Coordination between tourism, education, and environmental sectors
A stronger governance model with inclusive planning and monitoring
🌱 We invite professionals, travel designers, NGOs, academic allies, and local leaders to join this collective journey.
To co-create new experiences rooted in place.
To invest in processes that center people, nature, and meaning.
To help build a new generation of travel — slower, deeper, and truly transformative.
💬 Let’s connect if you believe tourism can be part of the solution.
