Описание к видео "Band of Brothers" Medic Reflects on Combat in Europe | Al Mampre

Al Mampre enlisted in the Army in 1942 and seeking a bit of adventure volunteered for the new paratrooper division that was forming. He was sent to Toccoa, Georgia for training and would become a medic in E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR, of the 101st Airborne - a company that would later gain fame as the "Band of Brothers".

Mampre would make his first combat jump into Holland during Operation Market Garden, he missed the D-Day jump due to an infection in his neck. While outside Eindhoven Mampre fearlessly ran into the open to help Lieutenant Bob Brewer who had been shot in the neck. Mampre would be wounded himself while treating Brewer and helped to cover by Dutch civilians.

Mampre would recover from his wounds and serve with Easy Company in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge and help capture Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden.

Albert Mampre passed away on May 30, 2019 at the age of 97 from natural causes.
