Here's a great collection of Van Halen studio demos and live tracks that all predate their 1978 debut album. Tracks 1-10 are studio demos - some of which were later recorded on albums and some of which had parts used for other songs. The last 6 tracks are from the band's live club days, and are a mix of cover songs and originals.

I've indicated to the best of my knowledge if a demo track was later reused by the band.
