The International Sociological Association officially installed Geoffrey Pleyers as its new president during the XX World Congress of Sociology in Melbourne, Australia, in July 2023.

As a researcher and professor at the Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS) & Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Geoffrey Pleyers brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. He has published extensively on topics such as social movements and globalization and has served in various leadership positions within the ISA, including Vice-President for Research from 2018 to 2023.
