Step-By-Step Process:

For this DIY, I am using plain MDF board coasters to paint beautiful
bouquets of flowers on them.
You can choose any color palette. This time around I chose red, pink
and white for florals.
Lay out the coasters on a flat surface and apply a masking tape on the
back to align them in a line. This will help you work simultaneously on
them.
Now, coat the background in an alluring burnt sienna and leave them
to dry.
I want these coasters to have a rich polished wood charm, hence the
color choice. You can choose any other color too.
Now begin painting the first layer of the flowers. I chose red and pink
flowers to get started with.
Then I paint the second layer on flowers. Here I use light first layer, so I
can add depth to the buds with a darker second layer.
Now add different greens to create the garden vibe. I use sap green,
viridian green and a light green shade to play with light and shade.
Then come those white daisies to offset the darker tone of the
painting.
You can add them wherever you feel like. I really like how they finally
turned out to be and add as many as I possibly can. Seriously, it was
an effort to stop!
Then dot the centers with a bright ochre and leave the coasters to dry.
Before pouring resin, be sure to cover the back with masking tape to
protect from resin drippings.
Don on a pair of gloves before handling the resin. Then mix resin and
hardener in 3:1 ratio or whatever your product label recommends in a
disposable glass.
Stir it with a Popsicle stick for about 3-5 minutes until the mixture turns
clear.
Stack your painted coasters on upside down glasses to get the desired
elevation.
Now pour the resin mixture and let it spread naturally or use the stick
to evenly spread it around.
You’ll see some bubbles popping on the surface. Don’t worry, use a hot
air gun to get rid of them.
Then set the coasters aside for curing. It might take 7-14 days to
completely cure before you can finally use the beautiful handcrafted
coasters!
