ISRO Chairman V Narayanan briefed the media on the successful launch of the LVM-3 M6 rocket, which precisely placed the BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite into its intended orbit. The mission marked the ninth consecutive successful launch of the LVM-3 vehicle, showcasing 100 percent reliability and reinforcing India’s growing strength in heavy-lift launch capabilities.

The BlueBird Block-2 satellite, weighing 5,908 kg, became the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil. ISRO achieved exceptional precision, injecting the satellite with an accuracy of less than 1.5 kilometres—one of the best performances by any launcher globally.

This mission also marked the launch of the 434th satellite from India, serving 34 different countries, highlighting ISRO’s expanding role in the global commercial space market. The launch featured a major technological milestone with the induction of India’s first heavy, high-power electromechanical actuator in the S200 stage, improving payload capability by around 150 kg.

The LVM-3 vehicle used for this mission is the same human-rated launcher selected for India’s Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme, underlining its reliability and strategic importance.
