The seven angels are commanded to pour out their bowls of wrath upon the earth. In rapid succession, each empties the contents of his bowl completely. God is gracious right now, but His wrath will be total and complete. The seals may take 7 years to open, but the wrath of God takes very little time to accomplish.

The first angel pours out his bowl and those who have the mark of the beast now have malignant sores all over their bodies. The second angel pours out his bowl on the sea and it becomes like blood, killing every living sea creature. The third angel pours out his bowl on the rivers and springs of fresh water. They also become like blood.

The angel of the waters declares that God is righteous in His judgment because the world poured out the blood of the saints and prophets and now God has given them blood to drink. Yes, true and righteous are His judgments.

The fourth angel pours out his bowl on the sun and it begins to scorch people with fire. Those scorched refuse to repent and blaspheme God due to their sores and burns. The fifth angel pours out his bowl on the throne of the beast and his kingdom becomes darkened. Men gnaw their tongues because of their sores and pain.

God is just in His judgments. Each of these plagues targets specific issues. Men worshipped the beast, the sea, the water, the sun. They worshipped anything other than the true God. And even through this wrath, they refuse to repent, much as Pharaoh refused to repent when plagues were being poured out on Egypt. Their choices to reject God firm and final, God is just in His judgments.
