Описание к видео Mansa Musa: One of The Richest People In History

Mansa Musa was worth $400 billion dollars in today’s currency. The 14th-century West African ruler of the Mali Empire, holds the title of the wealthiest person in history. His fortune was amassed through Mali's abundant reserves of gold and salt. In 1324, during his famous pilgrimage to Mecca, Mansa Musa's wealth attracted great attention. Accompanied by a massive caravan of 60,000 men, including 12,000 personal slaves, adorned in opulent attire, he traveled with 80 camels carrying 300lbs of gold each. Along the way, he generously distributed gold to the poor, unintentionally causing an inflation crisis in Cairo. Despite his riches, Mansa Musa remained a devout Muslim that focused on his pilgrimage. Additionally, his reign fostered a cultural and educational revolution; establishing schools and universities that turned Timbuktu into an intellectual center. Mansa Musa's legacy is defined by his wealth, generosity, and support for the arts and education.
