New Implantable Heartburn 'Ring': What Physicians Should Know

Описание к видео New Implantable Heartburn 'Ring': What Physicians Should Know

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is one of just 13 U.S. surgery sites chosen to offer the LINX™ Reflux Management System, a new implantable magnetic "ring" that promises relief to the estimated 25 million American adults who suffer daily heartburn (GERD). The device won FDA-approval in late March.

In this video, renowned esophageal surgeon Jeffrey H. Peters, M.D., Seymour I. Schwartz Professor and chair of the Department of Surgery at URMC, discusses GERD complications, the promise of the LINX device, and inclusion/exclusion criteria for candidates.

As one of 15 specialized clinical trial sites across the U.S. and Europe, URMC has been implanting the device in study patients since 2009. Providers can call 585-275-2725 for more information.

*Of note, Peters has served as a consultant to the device's parent company, TORAX Medical, and received nominal compensation for sharing his clinical expertise at meetings over the past three years.
