Working from home offers employees more daily flexibility, less time commuting, greater job satisfaction, the opportunity to save money, and the ability to boost productivity.
Recent data suggest the “hybrid” model combines the benefits of working from home with those of going to the office, with an average productivity increase of 5%. And both employees and employers favor it.
According to Nicholas Bloom, professor of economics at Stanford University, not only is remote work here to stay. But workers are likely to quit their jobs if they’re told to return to the office full time. In a far-ranging conversation, Bloom and Jim Bianco, founder, and president of Bianco Research talk about what work-from-home means for the redesign of office space, management, the real estate market, and cultural diversity.
It’s one of the most fascinating prevailing trends with abundant implications, and it remains underexplored. Bloom and Bianco tread new ground here.
