Denmark Vesey:

Denmark Vesey, a formerly enslaved African American, planned a large slave rebellion in Charleston, South Carolina in 1822.
Vesey, who had purchased his freedom after winning a lottery, organized a group of enslaved and free black people to rebel against their white oppressors.
The plan involved seizing the city arsenal, freeing the slaves in the area, and escaping to Haiti. However, the plot was discovered before it could be carried out, and Vesey and many others were arrested and executed.

Madison Washington:

Madison Washington was an enslaved African American who led a rebellion aboard the Creole, a ship transporting 135 enslaved people from Virginia to New Orleans in 1841.
Washington and other enslaved individuals overpowered the crew, took control of the ship, and sailed to the British Bahamas, where they sought refuge.
The incident caused diplomatic tensions between the United States and the United Kingdom, as the United States demanded the return of the enslaved individuals while the British authorities in the Bahamas considered them free.

Both Denmark Vesey and Madison Washington were significant figures in the history of resistance to slavery in the United States, and their actions reflected the determination of enslaved individuals to resist and escape from bondage.
