Born in 384 BCE in Stagira, far from Athens, Aristotle grew up surrounded by medicine, observation, and the search for causes. Unlike his teacher Plato, who looked upward to the world of Ideas, Aristotle looked outward and downward. Into the messy, living reality around us.

He became the tutor of Alexander the Great, founded the Lyceum, and dedicated his life to one mission: to understand and categorize the world so that chaos could become order.
