Baltimore Bomolocha Moth ( Hypena baltimoralis) is found in the eastern part of the United States, west and south to Wisconsin, Missouri and Florida and Texas. They are most commonly sighted in or near deciduous forests. The life cycle of a moth can take as little as 30 days or as long as 300 days, depending on the temperature and food availability. The warmer the temperature, the faster the cycle completes.
The moth has two generations per year in the north and two or more generations in the south.
The moth flies from April to October, depending on the location. The caterpillars feed on maple leaves, especially those of red and silver maple.
The moths overwinter as pupae and almost never estivate as adults.
