Japan is known as a tough market for foreign brands and electric vehicles, but things are changing, Atsuki Tofukuji, president of BYD Auto Japan Co., told Bloomberg News shortly after unveiling its second electric model in the country. Having sold only 700 units of its first model in Japan since January, it plans to sell 1,100 of its newest model within the next half year. Despite selling millions in China, Tofukuji said that in Japan, "things are going according to plan."
