Actors react to Obama's victory

(7 Nov 2008) BAFTA STARS CELEBRATE OBAMA VICTORY
He had star-studded election campaign - now celebrities are celebrating Barack Obama's win.
The new president-elect was the main topic of conversation at the annual BAFTA tribute in LA on Thursday 6th November 2008.
Sean Penn, who was there to collect the 2008 Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, revealed he wept at Obama's White House victory.
The actor says he's hoping it'll signal a new era and that those who stood for the next president will continue to stand with him.
American star Anjelica Huston wants it to make her country "more beloved".
Being a BAFTA event, the British film community was out in force - they also claim having Obama in the Oval Office will be a good thing for other countries around the world.
'Burn After Reading' star Tilda Swinton went as far to say that his appointment would benefit "intergalactically" - in that the leader of the free world will be a man of focus and conscience.
Michael Sheen, from 'The Queen' and 'Frost/Nixon', claims the feedback he's had from London about the election is that there is now a feeling of hope.
And both Sally Hawkins, who plays the lead in 'Happy-Go-Lucky', and Bush singer Gaving Rossdale reckon it's not just the UK but Europe too that is sharing a united sense of excitement.
This year at the event held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented Don Cheadle with the BAFTA/LA Humanitarian Award, Tilda Swinton was named the British Artist of the Year and 'The Queen' director Stephen Frears was given the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Artistic Excellence in Directing.
