A journey into the rolling hills of Elk Island National Park.

The morning began with a quiet drive through the park gates, followed by a fortunate encounter with the resident bison and elk as they moved through one of the many fields. The prairie wind was high, adding a raw, wild energy to the walk along the trails.

To end the journey, I found a sheltered spot to boil water on the hiking stove. There is nothing quite like a warm cup of tea to balance the cold wind.

This is a small window into the stillness we seek at the Base. No rush, no noise—just the rhythm of the road and the warmth of the fire.
