Rainforest sounds - Night in the Borneo jungle

Описание к видео Rainforest sounds - Night in the Borneo jungle

The soundscape in the Borneo rainforest is incredibly lush and varied. Most birds stop singing at night, but that's when insects and frogs take over. There's a myriad insect species calling in this recording, from bush crickets to katydids and cicadas. By far the most interesting sound here is the melodic, flute-like call of the aptly named Treehole frog. These frogs call from tree cavities, which act as a resonator and amplifier for the sounds they make. Very occasionally the puppy-like barking of a gecko can also be heard.

At first listen the soundscape does not seem very diverse, but give it some time and it will eventually reveal a natural polyrhythm. Each species has its own slot in the time or frequency domains, and together they create this beautiful natural ensemble that is very much diagnostic for a healthy habitat.

Recorded at Tabin wildlife reserve in Sabah, Borneo with Zoom F6 and Lom mikroUsi Pro microphones. Enjoying the videos I upload on here? Feel free to support me by:
