We keep telling you that air power is a team sport, and so are Operations like #YourADF Bushfire Assist.

There are many teams working tirelessly behind the scenes - like our No. 30 Squadron at RAAF Base East Sale - to ensure we can best support emergency services.

Current #OpBushfireAssist efforts on 8 January include:

✳️ A C-17A Globemaster has flown from Brisbane to RAAF Base Edinburgh with a water purification and desalination system (WPDS). It will be transported by road and ferry to Kangaroo Island to supply drinking water to residents.

✳️ Support flights using C-17A Globemaster, C-130J Hercules and C-27J Spartans continue.

✳️ C-27J Spartan operations to assist in the evacuation of personnel from Mallacoota to East Sale will continue if conditions allow.

✳️ A P-8A Poseidon will conduct reconnaissance flights over fire-affected areas.

✳️ No. 44 Wing Air Traffic Controllers continue to provide a flight information service at the airport in Bairnsdale, Victoria to help local authorities manage the high volume of air traffic.

✳️ Role One Medical Facilities are being established at RAAF Base East Sale and Holsworthy Barracks to provide first aid, immediate lifesaving measures, and triage.

✳️ ADF bases throughout affected regions from Brisbane to Adelaide are providing temporary accommodation to those displaced by the fires.

✳️ The ADF continues to provide transport and other capabilities such as aviation ground support, logistics, engineering and accommodation in support of the firefighting effort across multiple locations.
