Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) has recovered the bodies of all ten victims from the Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) 42-500 plane crash after a grueling seven-day recovery operation in South Sulawesi. Footage captured between January 21 and 23 shows rescue teams navigating steep cliffs and harsh weather conditions on Mount Bulusaraung, using hoisted stretchers to evacuate bodies from near the wreckage. Aircraft debris was visible scattered across the mountainside. BASARNAS Operation Chief Andi Sultan confirmed that nine victims were successfully evacuated by January 22, with the final victim located and recovered on January 23. The joint mission involved Indonesia’s military, police, firefighters, and civil rescue agencies.
