Africa region: Wattled Ibis (Bostrychia carunculata) are large dark birds with a hanging throat wattle. They live only in highland regions of Ethiopia. Wattled Ibises spend much of their day foraging in flocks of up to hundred in open habitats. At end of the day small groups fly to their night roasts located on rocky cliffs or along rivers. Wattled Ibises feed slowly and methodically walking about probing the ground for worms, insects and frogs. They sometimes follow cattle and other domestic animals to catch insects drawn to their manure. Wattled Ibises utter very loud, raucous, growling kowrrr-kowrrr-kowrrr.
