All single player campaigns of Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War and it's 3 expansions (Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soul Storm). The original Dawn of War will be played in 4:3 aspect ratio but all the other expansions (like Dark Crusade and Soul Storm) will be in wide screen.

By the time Soul Storm came out players can choose between 9 factions (Space Marines, Chaos, Orks, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Tau, Imperial Guard, and Sisters of Battle). Dawn of War introduced many new concepts in the RTS genre that was highly refreshing and quite a treat. Relic at the time was on fire releasing amazing title after title, starting with Homeworld.

I never played online as a kid. I wanted to but never got around to it. At the time so many juicy strategy games were coming out (and many already out) that it was hard to dedicate time to all of them. The quality of the game was excellent.

I was never into Warhammer like my younger brother. I used to dream about owning the models as a kid but my parents were not so affluent to afford them. When I finally bought them as a man I realized the dream of wanting them was much more satisfying. But during my teen years I was happy to be able to play Dawn of War. I may not have had a full army but I did have Dawn of War which had interesting mechanics like squads, morale, capture economy, the cover values. The genesis of what Company of Heroes will become can clearly be seen.

What I liked about it was the evolving campaigns. A lot of games were adding strategic layers to their strategy games with a campaign mode which had unit persistence and territory capture. This was really interesting in Soul Storm and clearly evolved over time in other Relic titles.

It was a good game during simple times.
