Episode 18 Overview

Introduction



Hello and welcome back to Kajabi in Five Minutes. In the last episode, I said that this episode was going to be great—fantastically great even. So, imagine my pressure thinking about what to make this episode about. Actually, I didn't feel any pressure at all. But that's okay because talking about Kajabi is fun. Podcasting, having a podcast, is fun. Even if you're talking about Kajabi, it's still fun. So, this episode is going to be great—super fantastic, actually—because today I'm going to be talking to you about forms in Kajabi.


Importance of Forms



Forms are very useful and helpful tools that you basically need if you're going to be doing anything in Kajabi. You're going to need at least one. So today, let's learn about them. To get into the forms, you go into Marketing and then Forms. You can create a new form. It's nice to know you can create an unlimited number of forms in Kajabi, so you don't have to worry about running out of space for forms.


Creating and Customizing Forms



The form template is always the same, so it's easy to learn. Right away, you'll notice that you can give your form a name. You've got double opt-in or single opt-in options. Over on the right, you've got some options about being notified if someone fills out the form or if you want to send the form data to a third party, like if you're connected to a different email marketing or CRM platform. You can also send people to a different landing page once the form is completed. Rolling down, you'll see options for double opt-in if you're choosing that. At the bottom, you've got automations, and that's it for the form space. It's really simple and easy.


Understanding Double Opt-In



Not everyone knows what double opt-in is or how to use it properly. The double opt-in feature of a form is like saying to somebody, "Are you sure you want to subscribe to my marketing email or my email list by filling out this form?" The mechanics are that someone fills out your form, and instead of being added to your list as a subscriber, they get an email. That email says, by default, "Click here if you want to subscribe to marketing from this site." It's not a super awesome email, so I always recommend editing that email if you're going to use the double opt-in feature.


Benefits of Double Opt-In



If someone goes into that email and clicks the button, they become a subscriber on your email list, and you'll be able to send marketing emails to them. This is a great way to make sure that the people getting subscribed to your list are interested in being there. Sometimes people will just sign up and then unsubscribe immediately, which doesn't do you any good. That person probably wouldn't go through the process of going to that email and then clicking subscribe. If someone doesn't want to be on your email list, let them not be on your list. It's not going to do you any good if they don't want to be there.
