Giraffe calf with braces receives a new lease on life 🦒 - San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Meet Msituni 🦒

Born with unstable wrist joints, Msituni couldn't properly bend her legs. Our wildlife care specialists feared for her survival and partnered with experts from the Hanger Clinic to help save this wobbly wonder's life.

Orthotists quickly designed custom braces for her legs and developed a treatment plan to get her back on her feet. We're happy to report that the project was successful and she has been reunited with the giraffe tower at the Safari Park.

Msituni, which means "in the forest" in Swahili, is an inspiration to all who meet her and is a testament to the incredible staff at San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance who dedicate their time to caring for wildlife everyday.
