Remington Sportsman 58

Описание к видео Remington Sportsman 58

In 1956 Remington introduced the Model 58 shotgun affectionately known as the Sportsman 58, the first gas operated semi automatic shotgun that they ever made. A predecessor to the mighty 1100, the Sportsman 58, although flawed, set the stage for the success of the 1100 and brought Remington into the "modern" era of shotgun manufacturing. By 1963 the Model 58 was gone as the dominance in the market by the introduction of the Model 1100 caused Remington to discontinue the Model 11-48 and Model 58 and never look back. You can imagine how the 1100 impacted sales of the competitors offerings. The Model 58 is hard to forget if you had some love for it, however, and I have more than a little.

The example I have here is a first year 1956 production, 2 3/4'' 12 Gauge with a 28'' fixed full choke barrel that suffers from a few of the problems inherent with this design and here we examine those issues and pose a solution which we follow up on in the video linked below. I'm confident we will overcome this shotguns design flaws and make a formidable trap gun out of it. We also examine the design progression that led us here and where it took us into the future.
