As fishing guides, we’re always chasing greener pastures—new waters, bigger fish, and the unknown.

During this 10-day exploration trip, we pushed further than ever before, visiting new locations in search of trophy yellowcheek wherever they might be hiding.

The first leg of the journey quickly proved challenging. Heavy late-season rains had turned the water chocolate brown, making it difficult to even find viable fishing spots. Cold rain, long drives, and murky conditions tested us—but we still managed to land a few yellowcheek. A couple of mahseer encounters ended in missed opportunities, while other species followed the lure without committing.

The second leg took us deep into remote stretches of river, hunting post-spawn yellowcheek. These elusive giants showed themselves—explosions in the distance, quick swipes at the lure—but never fully connected.

While most of our catches were juveniles, the trip was a success in its own way. We learned a lot about the waters we explored, shared great moments, and gathered valuable knowledge for the future.

This won’t be the last time I return. 🎣
