The SWL DXing news report (episode 19): Don't miss this once-a-year shortwave broadcast!

Welcome to episode 19 of my series, The SWL DXing news report. This episode was recorded on 14 December 2024. In this podcast I talk about radio-related news, frequency changes, new stations, closures and anything else that might interest DXers. In this week’s episode I talk about a BBC ban in Niger, the author Stephen King closing his three radio stations in the US, Radio Maria in St Petersburg temporarily suspending transmissions, and another new SW station in Finland. Also, AWR shortwave relays appear to have returned to Madagascar and Germany, the BBC adds another 30 minutes of Russian programming to its UAE relay via WRN, and a reminder of the very special, once-a-year, Christmas broadcast Gruss an Bord to German mariners. I have another reception report from Alex in Lutsk, Ukraine. I end, as usual, with the HF propagation forecast.
