Do you need 4 wheel drive in Hawaii? Waipio Valley Black Sand Beach Travel Vlog

Waipio Valley is one of our favorite spots to visit on the Big Island of Hawaii. At the top is a scenic lookout, but if you have the energy, we recommend making your way to the bottom where you'll find a black sand beach, waterfall, and if you're lucky, wild horses. You can either hike, drive, or hire a shuttle to get to the bottom.

If you drive yourself, it's a good idea to have a 4 wheel drive (4WD). But other than that, is it worth renting a 4x4 for your vacation to the Big Island? We answer that question in this video.
