5 Watches Every Man Needs - Do You Have Them?

Описание к видео 5 Watches Every Man Needs - Do You Have Them?

Ok, "needs" is a bit much. But tonight's show features five types of luxury watch that every man - and possibly woman - should include in their watch collections. From dive watches to dress watches, Tim Mosso discusses the best luxury watches to buy for a well rounded collection. The Omega Seamaster, Patek Philippe Aquanaut, and Vacheron Constantin Overseas feature prominently in this discussion.

The five watches everyone needs include dress watches, dive watches, all around watches, chronographs, and travel time watches.

Omega Seamaster is the eternal rival of the Rolex Submariner. But in a world where even a basic Submariner Date costs $10,250, a Seamaster Diver 300M makes more sense for $5,900. With a 300-meter diving depth to match the Rolex, a helium escape valve available only on the more expensive Sea-Dweller, and James Bond links to match Rolex's historic connections to 007, the Omega Seamaster is smart choice for watch collectors on a budget. Not only can this dive watch be used with a bathing suit, it can be deployed with a business suit for office duty. Model reference numbers include 210.30.42.20.03.001 and 210.30.42.20.01.001.

The Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 is the most icon design in the catalog of Switzerland's oldest watchmaker. The American 1921 is a rectangular dress watch drawn from vintage Vacheron Constantin models that may have been intended for drivers of early cars. Today, the American 1921 is a luxury dress watch with the grace to rival both Patek Philippe's Calatrava and the throng of offerings from upstart independent watchmakers. This 40mm Vacheron Constantin is ultra thin and easy to wear on small wrists, but a 36.5mm midsize model is available for notably petit watch buyers. Model reference numbers include 82035/000R-9359 and 82035/000R-9359.

All around isn't an established market segment or luxury watch class, but it makes sense to those who collect watches. An all around watch is suitable almost everywhere and all the time. The Cartier Santos is the world's oldest pilot's watch, earliest tool watch, and oldest Cartier wrist watch design of any kind. The latest Cartier Santos includes impressive water resistance, magnetic resistance, and a bracelet that can be sized without tools. Cartier includes a manufacture caliber 1847 MC automatic movement and a second accessory strap for use with the watch's quick-release bracelet system. Model references include WSSA0062 and WSSA0064.

A chronograph could fit into any of the other categories in this discussion, but the colossal popularity of this complication warrants its own place in a gentleman's watch collection. The Zenith El Primero chronograph family is legendary, so Tim selects one of the latest - the Zenith Chronomaster Sport - because it embodies rich history, value, and capability. Now available with a green dial and ceramic bezel, the Chronomaster Sport is a compelling chronograph with a Zenith El Primero caliber 3600 to keep the time. It includes column wheel operation, a foudroyante seconds hand, and 60 hours of power reserve. Model references include 03.3100.3600/69.M3100 and 03.3100.3600/21.M3100.

Dual time watches dominate the travel time watch genre, and Tim has selected the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time as one of the best a man can buy. At 41mm in stainless steel, the Overseas Dual Time is nicely sized for a modern sports complication watch. The second time zone is useful for travelers or those who must keep track of distant time zones. Vacheron adds value with a bracelet that can be removed without tools in favor of one of the two accessory straps - rubber and leather - included with the watch. At $30,900, the Overseas Dual Time is an effective companion for any watch collector who requires more than one time zone. Model references include 7920V/210A-B546 and 7920V/210A-B334.

All of this plus live discussion and watch collector wrist shots appears tonight on "Watches Tonight!"
