Candidates appearing on the ballot in the Alachua County's August 2024 Primary were invited to participate in a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Alachua County in partnership with the Bob Graham Center for Public Service and the UF League of Women Voters student chapter. The in-person Primary Election Candidate Forum took place in the Pugh Hall Ocora on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Unopposed candidates in the August primary did not appear in the forum.

League of Women Voters and University of Florida students moderated the forum. This is Panel 1, candidates for Alachua County Sheriff.

There are 3 Democratic Candidates who will be on the primary ballot for the Sheriff seat: Peter King, Chad D. Scott, and Latrell Simmons. The winner will run against the current sheriff, Emery Gainey, a Republican. and Pamela Marshall-Koons, who has no party affiliation in the general election in November.

The Alachua County Sheriff is elected in a partisan election and serves a four-year term. There is no term limit.
