Basic Bian Gan (Whip Stick) 鞭杆基礎-- 十字八道

Bian Gan (Whip Stick) is a common wooden weapon in North West region of China. In chinese. "Bian"(鞭) mean whips. "Gan"(杆) mean sticks/staffs. The length of the Whip stick is 13 of the one's fist width. It is about 110cm~120cm. So it is also called "13 Hold". (十三把) It is easy to be holding for hiking, traveling or grazing in ancent China. So it is become a common weapon i that region.

鞭杆 是中國武術器械之一，為木製短棍，長度按使用者用自己握拳的寬度從棍一頭至另一頭以十三把為度,故又稱十三把。 棍粗（直徑）約3.5～3.8厘米。

演練時，單手或雙手持鞭杆，梢把並用，常常調手換把。其擊法有戳、劈、挑、扣、蹦、點、擊、撩、攔、截、撥、架、推、挎、絞、壓、舞花等。

演練中要求手不離鞭，鞭不離身，走鞭換手乾淨利落，動作有左有右，身法伸屈吞吐，方法剛柔相濟，力貫鞭梢。鞭杆可以單練，也可對練。鞭杆在中國西北地區甘肅、山西、寧夏、陝西等省流行較廣。
