The National Environment Management Authority says the environmental impacts of the Murang'a water project may not be as adverse as they've been made to appear. Nema director of compliance David Ongare says the body made the same findings when they gave the license for the project to continue. Questions about lasting environmental impacts were brought to the fore by cord leader Raila Odinga, who referred to the tunnels meant to boost water supply to Nairobi as "Secret tunnels of death"
