On January 26, 1950, India became an Independent Sovereign Democratic Republic with its own Constitution. The Constitution of Independent India that came into being that day was the culmination of a journey that had begun during the first war of Independence in 1857. The Constitution of India, signifies the culmination of a protracted and meticulous process led by the Constituent Assembly.
