How fast can you ACTUALLY rank up in Mario Kart?

With Wave 4 of Mario Kart 8's DLC coming out recently, I decided it was time to do some SCIENCE. One of the biggest questions I've had since I've started playing Mario Kart 8 a bit more recently is how the ranked system works. Is it accurate? Is it not? How long would it take to get your actual rank? To begin my journey of finding all of this out, I decided to do a little experiment: 90 minutes on a fresh account to see just how high I could get my rank.
